"Banana curry with shrimp"
Ingredients:(serves 4)
3 tablespoons curry powder
1 teaspoon powdered cumin
1 teaspoon ginger/garlic mixture
4 tablespoons oil
125 dried shrimps (soaded in water and then cleaned)
OR 250g fresh or frozen shrimps (shelled and seasoned with salt and pepper)
1 big onion (sliced)
Some curry leaves
6 green bananas (peeled and cut into 1 cm pieces)
2 chopped tomatoes
2 green chillies
Chopped coriander leaves
Salt
Method:
Mix together powdered ingredients, ginger/garlic mixture and some water so as to make a paste.
Heat oil and fry shrimps for 3 or 4 mins. Drain and keep aside.
In the same oil, fry onion till transparent. Add curry paste, curry leaves and about 4 tablespoons water. Stir fry till moisture evaporates.
Add bananas, 1/4 glass of water and some salt. Mix, cover and cook for 5 to 6 mins.
Then add fried shimps, tomatoes and chillies. Mix, cover and cook over a low heat till gravy thickens and bananas are cooked.
Remove from heat and sprinkle over coriander leaves.
Serve hot with rice and tomato chutney.
